Tony , you truly are a "Sage of the Age", so I know you won't have a problem with this one.
My friends and I have been having a debate over the former name of Hostess snack cake NOW known as "King Dons". I have been telling them for years that the "Don" used to go by the alias of "KING DONG". They seem to think I am drunk off of the creamy goodness that flows from said treats, but I beg to differ. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy these tasty hockey-puck-shaped cakes regardless of what name they go by. Can you help a brother out?

You are correct! The original name is the Ding Dong which came back to the forefront in 1998 after an eleven year stint as the King Don. On the eastern side of the old U.S. it started out as the King Dong and later became the King Don. If that wasn't enough Hostess created a cartoon character for the snack and his name was "King Ding Dong." That's a bunch of ding dong talk. Makes me want to go grab a box.

Okay here is question about another obsure snack icon. What happen to "Cookie Puss?" Was he phased out of marketing because of his "odd" name?

Cookie puss. Man that brings back a flood of memories. The company that produces the puss is called Carvel. The Puss lives! You have to find it in certain stores and I believe the products are still available in the old Bluegrass state. If you like the puss try Fudgie the whale another Carvel favorite! I love talking about the old nostalgic foods and beverages. Feel free to bring something new to the table as often as you like.
