We shot in squeeze mode. You lose a little resolution, but I like the results better than doing it in post.
I wanted to use an anamorphic lens converter for the best possible widescreen picture without loss of resolution, but they're a little bit cumbersome, can be finicky, and complicate if not prohibit the use of other filters and adapters. So, ultimately, squeeze seemed to be the best choice for us.
Have you been shooting indoors or outdoors?

Merc, my guess would be that your problem might lie in lighting and framing. Lighting is EVERYTHING, especially indoors. The DVX needs lots of it, and to look professional, those lights have to be in the right place (or close). I know I never had time to do as much lighting as I would have liked on this movie. In a very small nutshell; nothing in a shot should look "flat" unless it's intentional. Lighting should give depth (shadows from nice soft lights, not spotlights), the blocking/spacing of actors and props should give depth, etc. I've been doing video production for 7 years and I'm only beginning to get a good grasp on the finer points of lighting. You might check out some books on Amazon. Or, if you can afford it, this DVD is all you'd ever need: www.vasst.com/product.aspx?id=d36b1c4e-0bad-4e52-ae18-51b10f22fcfdIt even teaches you how to build your own softlight.
